The St. Andrew’s-Sewanee Middle School girls won their home opener by a point over Swiss Elementary School, 20-10.
Swiss wons the boys game, 43-17.
The girl’s game saw SAS hold on to win after a late fourth quarter rally by Swiss. for a 1 point win.
High scorer for the Mountain Lions was Aubrey Blosser with 8 points. Savannah Blosser had 5 points, Claire Christopher 3 points and Catherine Barnett and Adeline Pond 2 points each. Rosa Thompson and Maggie Mayo also saw action for the Mountain Lions.
SAS Coach Paige Lowe said, “This was a hard-fought win. I am proud that my team hung in there under pressure and were able to pull through. Turnovers and free throws are areas we need to work on, but overall I couldn’t be more proud of their efforts.”
The SAS girls improve to 2-0.
The SAS Middle School boys basketball team hosted a big and physical team from Swiss Memorial. Ian Tucker led SAS in scoring with 8 points, followed by Harper Holt with 6.
The loss moves the SAS boys to 0-2.
